1.Fish Oil

The omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil are wonderful for providing nourishment and hydration to your skin. They also help with maintaining a smooth texture and better elasticity.

2. Ashwagandha

This ancient Ayurvedic herb has long been praised for its medicinal and healing benefits. When it comes to skin, Ashwagandha is loved for its ability to promote the production of skin-boosting collagen which provides skin strength and elastin for suppleness, and it also help slow down the ageing process – yes, really!

3. Evening Primrose Oil

Ask any facialist and they’ll swear by Evening Primrose Oil for boosting your skin’s glow factor. Packed full of essential nutrients and healthy fats, this oil has anti-inflammatory properties which reduce swelling, redness and itching of rashes and skin conditions. This magic oil is also helpful for those suffering from acne due to a hormone imbalance; it visibly helps to diminish breakouts.

4. Vitamin D

Vitamin D2 and D3 are said to be the most effective when it comes to skin health. Their antioxidant capabilities prevent skin damage and premature ageing when taken as a supplement, and vitamin d also aids in cell repair and growth.

5. Zinc

A whopping 1/3 of the world’s population suffers from a zinc deficiency and research shows that those who suffer from acne are more likely to have 24 per cent lower zinc levels than those with clear skin. Some studies say that taking a zinc supplement can reduce breakouts by up to 50 per cent as it has a similar reduction of the inflammatory response to bacteria as antibiotics do. Zinc also diminishes keratinocyte activation which leads to blocked pores and acne.

6. CoQ10

Coenzyme Q10 is the ultimate antioxidant for protecting the skin from damage caused by ultraviolet A light. Unfortunately, CoQ10’s prevalence in the body lessens as we age which means our skin cells are eventually exposed to harmful damage without it, ultimately leading to wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and sagging skin. No thank you! Prevention is key and when taken as an oral supplement CoQ10 is most effective.

7. Collagen

Collagen is a naturally occurring protein found in the connective tissues of the body. It serves many important functions, including strengthening joints, bones and the skin’s dermis. Approximately 80 percent of the skin is made up of collagen – it’s literally the glue that holds everything together! So, as production slows down, the structure of our skin weakens and we start to see sagging skin and lines.
